Jonathan Pollard Urges “Dual Loyalty” And Spying For Israel
Jonathan Pollard, who as a civilian intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy in the 1980s was found guilty of spying for Israel and served 30 years in prison, not only has no regrets for his action but urges other American Jews to follow in his footsteps.
Now a resident of Israel, which he considers his real “home,”
Pollard was interviewed by the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom (March 25, 2021). He said, “The bottom line on this charge of dual loyalty is, I’m sorry, we’re Jews, and if we’re Jews we will always have dual loyalty.” Pollard said Jews were deluding themselves if they thought of America as their home. He suggested that he would counsel a young Jewish American working in an American security agency to spy for Israel, as he did.

The United Arab List party froze coalition talks on Monday in the wake of escalations in Jerusalem and the south, according to sources involved in the talks.
Earlier in the day, Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid said that the remaining issues that need to be settled before forming a new government are not large.
“Within days, we can swear in a new, functioning government based on broad agreements and the common good,” Lapid said “Forming a government is never an easy task. Not everyone will get what they want. But there’s an understanding that everyone is a partner in it. We all understand that the country needs a change of direction.”

Deputy Education Minister Meir Porush and MK Yisrael Eichler of the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party on Sunday asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step aside and let another lawmaker from the right lead a new government.
The request from the two senior allies of Netanyahu and his Likud party came as Yesh Atid MK Yair Lapid and Yamina chief Naftali Bennett plowed ahead with their own efforts to build a majority coalition in the wake of March’s inconclusive elections, reportedly making significant progress.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a government ahead of a midnight Tuesday-Wednesday deadline, telling the president he could not muster a majority and leaving the premier close to losing power after 12 straight years in office.
However, the rival bloc of parties could also fail to build a Knesset majority, and Netanyahu continues as transitional prime minister for the time being.
Netanyahu formally returned the government-forming mandate to President Reuven Rivlin a few minutes before the deadline expired, and the president now has three days to decide how best to proceed.
