Police find body of 2-year-old Amari Nicholson, grandmother speaks out
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) Two-year-old Amari Nicholson was reported missing on May 5th in Las Vegas. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said Wednesday that they have found the body of 2-year-old Nicholson.
LVMPD said the body was located near the Emerald Suites, where Amari was last seen.
The boyfriend of the toddler s mother, Terrell Tavoris Rhodes, 27, has been charged with murder in connection with the disappearance of the 2-year-old.
Carrie Howard, who lives in Salida, Colorado, is Amari s grandmother. After the murder charge was filed, Howard spoke about the overwhelming emotion she felt.
Body of Missing 2-Year-Old Amari Nicholson Found, Suspect Arrested: Las Vegas Police
Amari went missing in early May, and volunteers have been searching ever since.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed the boy’s body was located near the 400 block of E. Twain Avenue near Paradise Road.
“This investigation is ongoing,” the department wrote in a tweet. “The cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.”
Authorities said that Terrell Rhodes was arrested on murder charges in connection to the case. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
Rhodes was identified by family members as the boyfriend of Amari’s mother. He made his first court appearance Wednesday and was held without bond, reported News3LV.
