The Sindh Public-Private Partnership Policy Board has approved the construction of a link road between Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M9) and Karachi-Torkham National Highway (N5).
This decision was taken at a PPP board meeting presided over
by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday. It was attended by board
members, provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, P&D Chairman

Karachi, January 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the use of indigenous Thar Coal instead of imported coal for power generation has resulted in a saving of $78 million FOREX for the country. “By procession toward ‘Economy of scale’ Thar coal prices are reducing from initial $58 per ton to $32 per ton and with further expansion the prices will further reduce.” This he said while presiding over a Thar Coal and Energy Board (TCEB) meeting here at the CM House.
Thar Coal Power Generation Saved Pakistan $78 Million: Murad Ali Shah
Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has said that the use of indigenous Thar Coal, instead of imported coal, for power generation, has resulted in a saving of $78 million foreign exchange for the country.
“By procession toward `Economy of scale’ Thar coal prices are reducing from initial $58 per ton to $32 per ton and with further expansion, the prices will reduce even further,” said the CM while presiding over a Thar Coal and Energy Board (TCEB) meeting at the CM House, Karachi.
By further expansion to 15 mtpa or more, Thar coal prices will further reduce by 50 percent, and Thar Coal Tariff (at around 5.5 US cent per kWh) will be the cheapest baseload in the country, he informed.

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, to expedite work on a survey and detailed designs of the Gujjar and Orangi storm drains’ network by December 31, 2020, and January 15, 2021, respectively.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting on the storm water drains’ cleanliness at the CM House on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani, law adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Chairman P&D Mohammad Waseem, Commissioner Karachi Naveed Shaikh, NED Vice Chancellor Dr Sarosh Lodhi, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, KMC Administrator Laiq Ahmed, the secretaries for finance and local government and other officials concerned.
