One man dead, eight units severely damaged in Dundee fire

Officer Derek Cole were dispatched to Village Pointe Apartments at 4:33 Sunday morning in response to an apartment fire.
When the first responders arrived on scene a fully involved second floor fire had taken over one of the units. Officers identified a man calling for help from the second story window who was being encouraged to jump by other residents on scene. Due to the intense heat smoke and flames the man was unable to jump and fell back into the apartment.
Monroe woman killed in shooting
A 29-year-old Monroe woman was killed late Monday night in an apparent homicide.
Authorities were dispatched to the 6000 block of Greenwycke Lane in Monroe Charter Township at 9:20 p.m. in response to a report of a shooting.
Responding Monroe County sheriff’s deputies found a deceased female at the residence. She has been identified as Katlynn Nicole Hill, a resident of Monroe.
Responding deputies also located a male subject at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Monroe man, is being lodged at the Monroe County Jail. Authorities are withholding his identify, pending formal charges. Arraignment is expected soon.
