WOODSFIELD Plans to begin construction on the new Monroe County Ohio State University Extension building are moving ahead now that the project bid has been awarded.
Mary Jo Westfall, OSU Extension Office associate, gave her construction bid recommendation during Monday’s Monroe County Board of Commissioners meeting. Westfall recommended commissioners accept the low bid of $898,475 from PSC & Build LLC of Cleveland.
Officials received a total of six bids ranging from $898,475 up to $1.4 million during the Feb. 8 meeting. All but one of the bids came in under the project’s $1.3 million estimate.
Westfall said after discussing the matter with the project architect and speaking with the construction companies, officials opted to go with the low bidder. She said PCS & Build has assured project officials that it doesn’t anticipate any changes and will be able to perform the work for the amount listed in its bid.
