Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], January 7 (ANI): Former Andhra Pradesh Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, her husband Bharghav Ram were arrested for kidnapping a former hockey player Praveen Rao and two of their relatives in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Telangana police said.
Bhuma Akhila Priya was a tourism minister in the previous TDP government of Chandrababu Naidu.
The kidnapping was allegedly over a land dispute but the police rescued a former hockey player Praveen Rao and his two relatives, who were abducted on Tuesday from their residence by some unidentified persons posing as Income Tax officials in Hyderabad. The victims were rescued at around 3 am on Wednesday from the Shaikpet area in Hyderabad, police said.

Hyderabad: Three men, who are directly related to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, were kidnapped from their home in Bowenpally in Hyderabad late Tuesday. A dispute related to land in Hafeezpet is known to be the reason behind the kidnap, police said in a preliminary investigation.
According to the family members, former Andhra Pradesh tourism minister Bhuma Akhil Priya and her husband Bhargav’s family are behind the kidnapping. The police, on Wednesday morning, also arrested Akhila Priya from her Kukatpally residence, along with the others suspected.

The three were kidnapped from their house on Tuesday night and were reportedly detained at a farmhouse. They said that they were made to sign some papers. The victims and the accused are currently in dispute over 50 acres of land in the city.
The three kidnapped – K Praveen Rao, K Sunil Rao and K Naveen Rao are said to be distantly related to the CM and cousins of KCR’s aide P Venugopal Rao. Praveen Rao is a former national badminton player.
