The Epidemiological Well-Being international conference, which will draw attention to the need for stronger health systems and preparedness against epidemics in the light of the colliding COVID-19 and HIV pandemics, opened today in Moscow, Russian Federation. The aims of the conference include discussions on the progress made against infectious diseases globally, highlighting interim results for reaching the goal of ending AIDS by 2030 and coming up with recommendations for sustainable approaches to combating infectious diseases.

Russia sees 8,589 new Covid-19 cases, 346 deaths over past 24 hours - HQ
MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - A total of 8,589 new coronavirus cases and 346 related deaths were recorded in Russia over the past 24 hours, according to a statement released by the national coronavirus response headquarters on Monday. A total of 8,589 cases of the new coronavirus infection (Covid-19) were registered in Russia in 83 regions over the past 24 hours, including 1,081 (12.6%) diagnosed proactively without clinical signs, the statement said.
A total of 6,818 people were discharged after recovering and 346 patients died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours.
A total of 2,279 new coronavirus cases, 59 deaths and 1,089 recoveries were recorded in Moscow on Monday, the headquarters said.

More than 126 mln coronavirus tests have been conducted in Russia so far, the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing said in a statement on Monday. Over 126 million coronavirus tests have been conducted in Russia, the statement reads. As many as 263,000 tests were carried out in the past day.
