Stocks finished mixed on Thursday as investors weighed bogged-down stimulus talks and a jobless claims report that showed the number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits surged.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 69 points, or 0.23%, to 29,999, the S&P 500 slipped 0.13% and the Nasdaq rose 0.54%.
Airbnb, the home-rental platform, began trading Thursday at $146, more than double its initial public offering price of $68 a share. The stock finished at $144.71. It traded as high as $165, almost 2 1/2 times the IPO price.
