Aging Life Care Association® Focuses on Healthy Aging for Men During Men’s Health Month This June

June is Men’s Health Month, a national month-long observance used to raise awareness about health care for men, as established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health. To celebrate, the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA) will focus on men’s healthy aging through video interviews of Aging Life Care Professionals®, blog posts, and social media campaigns.
ALCA celebrates Men s Health Month Male caregivers sometimes struggle with that role for a variety of reasons. A major part of our job as care managers is to assess the existing caregiving structure and to figure out how best to support the client within that family system.

MINNEAPOLIS Remi Douah sets down a couple of camping chairs in a south Minneapolis park. It s not just any park. It s the Say Their Names installation on East 37th Street, one block north of the George Floyd memorial. I decided to come here every day since last summer actually, Remi said.
He means after the murder of George Floyd. For some years, Remi raised his son, Isak, in south Minneapolis. This Tuesday morning, the father and son are together and there is an extra chair they ve brought along. Remi always makes sure there s an extra seat.

Native American communities face major health concerns that have disproportionately affected them for generations. Poor health choices, lack of proper medical interventions, minimal food alternatives, and access to healthy foods have placed many indigenous people in a perpetual health crisis.
