For many of us, corded landline telephones went out of fashion last century, replaced by more convenient, portable handsets - but for the royals they are still very much in vogue.
After moving to Windsor Castle to isolate in March 2020, the Queen has been pictured conducting her weekly meetings with Prime Minister Boris Johnson using an old-fashioned rotary dial phone.
Kate, 39, was pictured clutching a black corded landline phone to her ear as she casually chatted away to finalists beside a window in her London home, Kensington Palace.
While the Duchess has previously been spotted with an iPhone mobile - when she read out questions submitted for her Early Years Q&A in an Instagram video shared in November - both her and William, 38, tend to use the old fashioned landline when it comes to conducting engagements.

Five-time record holder Lee Ryan is attempting another Guinness World Record on Friday to raise awareness on mental health
A Dubai-based endurance athlete will attempt to break an existing world record by running 264.52km in 24 hours on a treadmill inside The Dubai Mall.
Lee Ryan, a 38-year-old endurance athlete from Liverpool, UK, is attempting to break the Guinness World Record on Friday, to raise awareness around mental health. The record is held by Norwegian Bjørn Tore Kronen Taranger since 2018.

ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall has revealed that she completely believes Meghan Markle’s statements about her mental health, which is at odds with ITV presenter Piers Morgan’s views on the matter.
Outspoken presenter Morgan, co-host of ITV’s breakfast program “Good Morning Britain,” suggested that he did not believe Markle’s statements during the Monday edition of the show. During the interview, with Oprah Winfrey, Markle said she had felt suicidal at times while being a part of the Royal Family and didn’t receive the support she needed from them despite asking for it. “I don’t believe a word she says,” Morgan said on the show on Monday. “I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”
