Services for Alvera “Polly” Martinson, 102, of Alliance Township of Moody County, South Dakota, will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minnesota. Visitation will be held 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Jasper City Cemetery. Per the Minnesota executive order, mask wearing and social distancing is required. Occupancy guidelines will be observed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hartquist Funeral Home – Jasper Chapel. Watertown, SD Â On December 26, 2020 at approximately 10:40 pm, Codington County Deputies observed a black Cadillac Escalade traveling westbound on 164th Street near 450th Avenue. The Escalade failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection before turning northbound on 450th avenue. During the turn, the vehicle swerved into the on-coming traffic lane and nearly went into the west ditch. When the deputy activated their emergency lights and siren, the vehicle slowed down and sped up multiple times before accelerating at a high rate of speed.
Deputies initiated a pursuit and contacted neighboring counties for mutual aid. The pursuit conditions varied from gravel roads, to paved roads. At one point, the Escalade lost control and left the roadway, entering a plowed corn field. The Escalade eventually merged back onto the roadway and continued to flee.
