Kathleen Reilly began collecting dolls after the murder of her daughter two decades ago. A room in her house remains full of them, a fantasy to replicate all that she lost.
It’s not necessarily creepy, it’s just how people cope, especially when a victim’s killer has never been captured, and hope must be set upon a shelf with the other collectibles gathering dust.
The murder of Reilly’s daughter, Tara, in 2000 is one of hundreds in the area that have never been solved. Kathleen Reilly, now in her late 70s, is hoping she lives long enough to see an arrest. Time is running out.

The Manatee County fireworks will be launched over the Manatee River and can be viewed over the Green Bridge, with the show beginning when darkness falls. Palmetto s annual free Fourth of July festival at Sutton Park will also return this year, with country singer Wynonna Judd s group Wynonna & The Big Noise set to be this year s musical headliner, said Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency director Jeff Burton.
Venice s fireworks will be shot from the South Jetty shortly after 9 p.m. and last around 30 minutes. The South Jetty and Jetty Jacks refreshment deck will be closed July 3-4, but the fireworks display can be viewed on area beaches from Caspersen to Nokomis and other locations around Venice.
