Wholesale liquor pricing to remain permanent | Columbia Valley, Cranbrook, East Kootenay, Elk Valley, Kimberley, Ktunaxa Nation

Posted: February 23, 2021 Changes to allow restaurants, bars and tourism operators with liquor licences to purchase beer, wine and spirits at the wholesale price set by the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) are now in place permanently, the provincial government announced today. “Early in the pandemic, our government took urgent action to support B.C. restaurants and pubs by allowing them to purchase alcohol at a wholesale cost,” said Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General. “Now we are making this change permanent to give these businesses certainty and help them recover, and to help the estimated 190,000 British Columbians who work in this sector.”

Feb 24, 2021 12:05 AM Russ Byth Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 559 cases of Covid-19 in BC yesterday, which included 43 in Interior Health. There were no new cases at KGH. Since the beginning of the outbreak there have been almost 78-thousand cases in the province. About 56-hundred vaccines were administered yesterday to bring the total to almost 225-thousand. The people authorized to give vaccinations has also been expanded to include pharmacists, dentists, midwives and other health technicians. Canada’s chief public health officer says results from covid vaccinations so far are encouraging enough that she thinks the need for massive lockdowns could be over before the end of summer. But Dr. Theresa Tam says some of the more personal measures, like wearing masks and limiting close contact outside our households, may be with us for a while. She says anything resembling a normal life will depend on new variants and how quickly vaccines are injected.
