Apart from 521 bed strength at the Government hospital here for admitting patients testing positive for COVID-19 virus, the district administration has established two more new facilities with 100 beds each, said District Collector P Madhusudan Reddy here on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters after a review meeting with the officials and doctors from the Health Department, he said that as a precautionary measure, 100 beds each have been kept ready at Pannai Engineering College campus in Sivaganga and at SMH Hospital, Tirupathur. Already, there were 72 beds in Amaravathipudur TB Hospital, he added.

Telangana may follow the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) and cancel the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations (10th class) this year as well.
The exams are supposed to be conducted from May 17 to 28 with major subjects to be completed by May 22 as per the schedule of the government released on February 9.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to take the final decision on cancellation after the Nagarjunasagar by-poll to be held on April 17. The surge in COVID cases and the apprehensions of parents may force the Chief Minister to cancel the exams. About six lakh students are presently enrolled in 10th class.

Government junior colleges in Telangana are losing their precious resource – land, and also their very existence with landsharks and politicians eyeing them in the name of litigation and development respectively.
The latest that has come under attack is the Government Junior College (GJC) Nagarkurnool where the compound wall was demolished by the municipal officials, apparently under direction from the local politicians to accommodate street-vendors in the altered boundaries.
