JS body recommends for developing aus variety to curtail rice import dependency

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2021 (BSS) – The Parliamentary standing committee on the agriculture ministry today recommended for taking necessary steps to develop research and production of different aus varieties so that the country can reduce the rice import dependency.
The recommendation was placed at the 15th meeting of the parliamentary committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with its chairman Matia Chowdhury in the chair.
The committee also recommended to the concerned ministry to take necessary action for getting accurate information on agriculture production and stock from the field level.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said the struggle for freedom had started through the Language Movement while it completed its journey with the attainment of independence when the nation won its victory.
“The blood of our martyrs did not go in vain and it’ll never be, and that is the proven truth. We gained our independence in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs,” she said while virtually addressing a discussion meeting marking the Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day from her official residence Ganobhaban, reports UNB.
Bangladesh pays tributes to language movement martyrs
Dhaka, Feb 21 (UNI) The supreme sacrifice of the language heroes on this day 69 years back is being remembered as people are paying glowing tributes to them at the altar of the Central Shaheed Minar since midnight while maintaining health guidelines.
High ranking dignitaries ranging from Military secretaries to the President and the Prime Minister got wreaths placed on their behalf at the Central Shaheed Minar at one minute past zero hours today.
The immortal song on Amar Ekushey–“Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February”- was playing on the loudspeaker on the occasion.

The nation yesterday observed Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner, paying rich tribute to the Language Movement heroes for their supreme sacrifice for Bangla as state language.
Maintaining health guidelines, hundreds of people in bare-foot and wearing black thronged Central Shaheed Minar in the capital and placed floral wreaths at the monument.
