Author: Credit: Worth County Sheriff s Office A 44-year-old Iowa woman has been sentenced after pleading guilty to felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from her plot to fake a cancer diagnosis and receive charity from local organizations.  Jennifer H. Mikesell, of Northwood, Iowa – located just south of the Minnesota border near Interstate 35 – pleaded guilty in Worth County District Court on Monday. She received a suspended sentence of 25 years in prison and five years probation.  She won t serve any time in prison after reaching a plea deal that mandates she repay everyone she defrauded in addition to seeking mental health treatment, according to the Globe Gazette.

(WALB) - The Worth County Sheriff’s Office is hoping the community can help them find a vehicle that was stolen early Sunday morning. According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, a black 2012 GMC Yukon Denali was stolen from the Andrson City area of Highway 33 South. The post says that the Denali has a Georgia license plate number RHS0789, however, it says it’s possible that the tag could have been removed or replaced.

(WALB) - On Dec. 18, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at a home on Sumner Lane in Sylvester, after a four-month investigation. The sheriff’s office said the Narcotics Investigations Division had multiple complaints from residents about crack cocaine and marijuana being sold from this house. During the investigation, investigators made multiple drug arrests of individuals who purchased drugs from the residence and made multiple controlled buys of crack cocaine from a man, identified as Timothy Paul Polk.

High speed chase leads to arrests by Georgia State Patrol Listen to the content of this post: MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) On Dec. 9, around 2:10 p.m., authorities received a request from the Worth County Sheriff’s Office for help with a car chase initiated by the City of Warwick Police Chief.  This is according to a news release from the Georgia State Patrol. The Chief attempted to stop a Dodge Challenger for speeding and other traffic violations. After making it to the interstate, the Challenger continued north driving recklessly on I-75 through multiple counties before entering Post 15 territory.  The news release says Crisp and Dooly County officers later joined in the pursuit, as well as Motor Carrier Compliance Division units. A Trooper took over as primary at approximately 2:30 p.m. near mile marker 136 on I-75 North in Houston County.
