Bomi Commissioner Applauds WFP, Govt, for Food Distribution

WFP Liberia s recent COVID-19 food distribution in Gayah Hill Township, Sinjeh District, Bomi County. Gayah Hill Township Commissioner in Sinjeh District, Bomi County, has applauded the Government of Liberia (GOL) and the World Food Program (WFP) for identifying with his people who find it very difficult to afford food for the rest of the day. Speaking in Gayah Town recently during a meeting, Commissioner Maima Barclay first performed the traditional welcoming ceremony [of guests] with Kola nuts and then said the town people were overwhelmed with gratitude for the food distribution.   “This is our country, this is our county, and this is our community. We want to say thank identifying with us. We wanted to raise a chorus to tell you people that we’re overwhelmed by the fact that you heard our cry and came to help our people”, said Commissioner Barclay.

India - Investment Treaty Arbitration Friday, January 8, 2021 Introduction  On December 21, 2020, the international arbitral tribunal (Tribunal) constituted in the case of Cairn Energy Plc and Cairn UK Holdings Limited (collectively ‘Cairn’) v. The Republic of India1 held that India had failed to uphold its obligations under the 1994 Bilateral Investment Treaty between Republic of India and United Kingdom (India - UK BIT) and under international law. The Tribunal ordered India to compensate the Claimants for the total harm suffered by Cairn as a result of India’s breaches. Reports of passing of the award became public on December 23, 2020. The award is not in public domain, save for an excerpt.

Restaurants and bars were initially required to close in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 before the Christmas season, but all non-essential retailers, hair and beauty salons, and gyms were required to close shortly after. “As we continue this work in dealing with the pandemic and finalise our plans for the rollout of the vaccine, it is important also that we work to provide security and support for our business community for our entrepreneurs and for our wealth creators,” Chief Minister Fabian Picardo told reporters on Friday.
