Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi on Monday called for public hanging of perpetrators involved in heinous crimes against women.
Addressing a news conference, Tahir Ashrafi, who is also chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), urged the chief justice of Pakistan and the prime minister to order a speedy trial of Noor Muqaddam murder and Usman Mirza cases.
He said the state is standing with the innocent victims of heinous crimes, and the justice system should be amended drastically to pave the way for prompt punishments of such culprits. He also urged parents to strive to bridge the ever-widening gap in their relationship with their children.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi on Sunday said former JUI-F leader and cleric Mufti Azizur Rehman, who is accused of sexually assaulting one of his students, should be given exemplary punishment.
Addressing a press conference, Ashrafi said child abuse was a crime whether it happened in a madressah, a college or a university, and called for public punishments for those convicted of child and sexual abuse.
Rehman was arrested at a house in Mianwali on June 20 after a disturbing video clip showing the cleric allegedly sexually assaulting one of his students was widely shared on social media. He had gone into hiding after the Lahore police registered a case against him but was subsequently apprehended along with his sons.

Punjab, KP, GB CMs discuss development affairs of respective areas with PM
Chief Ministers of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad today (Tuesday).
Matters pertaining to overall situation and development affairs of respective areas came under discussion in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Minister for Science and Technology Senator Syed Shibli Faraz also met with Prime Minister and apprised him about the Electronic Voting Machine. Besides that, Shibli Faraz also informed the Prime Minister about different projects initiated by his ministry.
Shibli Faraz congratulated the Prime Minister Imran Khan on the economic improvement and steps taken for the maintaining stability in the country.
