Former Love is All You Knead owner found not guilty of sex offender restriction violation charge Endrick Torres
The former owner of a Gainesville doughnut shop was found not guilty last week on a charge of violating restrictions while on the sex offender registry, according to court documents.
Endrick Joseph Torres, of Bethlehem, was acquitted on the charge April 6 following a bench trial before Hall County Superior Court Judge Bonnie Oliver.
In a bench trial, the judge provides a verdict instead of a jury.
Torres owned Love is All You Knead doughnut and ice cream shop on the Gainesville square but was arrested June 18, 2019, by Gainesville Police.
Kidnapping charge dismissed against Gainesville man; plea deal on others Russell Olin Layton
A Gainesville man was given time on house arrest and probation after prosecutors dismissed a kidnapping charge and negotiated a plea on other charges, according to court documents.
Russell Olin Layton, 54, was given a 12-year sentence with the first two years in confinement, according to court documents.
There were two indictments filed in October 2018 in Hall County Superior Court. The first alleged kidnapping, false imprisonment and battery involving a woman in August 2016.
The second indictment had charges including aggravated stalking, influencing a witness, terroristic threats and terroristic acts involving the same woman months later.

A 166-page indictment in Hall County Superior Court alleges a pipeline of liquid methamphetamine originating in Mexico and extending into Georgia.
The indictment lists 56 defendants who were charged with violation of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
The arrests were originally announced in July, an 11-month investigation known as “Operation Taking Care of Business” that involved local, state and federal authorities.
