This was double its 2017 remittance of P2.2 billion, the highest recorded dividend payment made by the agency in the last two decades, at the time.
The MIAA is mandated to remit at least 50 percent of its annual net income to the NG after it was granted fiscal autonomy two decades ago.
Since President Rodrigo Duterte took office in 2016, the MIAA dividend payments have significantly increased.

Based on MIAA records, a total of 138 individuals have been intercepted this year at the different security and airline checkpoints of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1, 2, and 3 for having positive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results. “Let us not take chances. The airport security and airline check-in staff will always check on your requirements and truth will be known in the process,” Monreal said.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 20) The Manila International Airport Authority appealed to the public to travel responsibly during the pandemic following the interception of at least 138 COVID-positive prospective travelers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport since the start of the year.
MIAA on Tuesday said the data was as of April 15 and that the departing passengers were intercepted at security and airline checkpoints. They were bound for different foreign destinations.
“They cited several reasons, most common of which is that they just learned about their test result when they were already in NAIA,” the agency said in a statement.

Taxi driver Ramon Go probably thought he got away clean after overcharging a returning seafarer at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 last month of up to P1,200. That is, until airport police caught up with him.
Reports coming from the Manila International Airport Authority-Police Intelligence and Investigation Division (MIAA-PIID) bared that victim Earl Buna had just arrived from Samar last March 28 when he hailed Go’s driven white taxi along Andrews Avenue across the airport.
The victim asked Go to bring him to Makati City but the former didn’t notice that the cab’s meter hadn’t been flagged down. As a result, Buna was shocked to be charged with P1,200 by Go upon reaching the destination.
