Paul Kelly breaks Lighthouse Theatre record

Date Time Paul Kelly breaks Lighthouse Theatre record One of Australia’s most successful musicians, Paul Kelly can add another accolade to his list of achievements – the fastest sell-out in Lighthouse Theatre history. Tickets to see the legendary performer in Warrnambool on July 27 and 28 were snapped up in just 18 minutes during the Frontier presale, and the remaining general admission tickets sold out within 10 minutes. This edges out previous record holders and perennial fast-sellers The Wiggles. In total, more than 1100 Paul Kelly tickets were sold across the two shows. Warrnambool Mayor Vicki Jellie said that incredibly strong ticket sales to Paul Kelly and other shows in 2021 indicated that Warrnambool and people from further afield were embracing live performances and aiding in the city’s COVID-19 recovery.

Rising Australian actor Sophie Wilde on TV series Eden, diversity and role models

Normal text size Very large text size Sophie Wilde thought the audition was a complete disaster. She had balanced a tripod and camera on a wobbly tower of books, recruited a friend to read opposite her via Zoom, and embarked on a frenzy of tidying so it wasn’t obvious that she was in her bedroom. Even then, Sophie didn’t quite know where to focus her eyes as she performed two scenes for the audition tape. Sophie had no doubt she wanted this job – it was the first audition where she had felt gut-certainty that it was the right role. She sent off the video during the early stages of the coronavirus lockdown. A few weeks passed with no response. Then a month. Then a few more. Well, Sophie reasoned, welcome to acting. It is, after all, an industry built on the back of the proverb that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
