MINNEAPOLIS â During their planetarium field trip, the third-graders from Castle Elementary School in Oakdale, Minn., had plenty on their minds.
Is there any water on the moon? Which is the coldest planet, and the hottest one? What is a black hole? Would you freeze to death on Mars?
Kaitlin Ehret, the Bell Museum planetarium educator leading the field trip, smiled as the students peppered her with more questions â in the âchatâ window of a Zoom call. One by one, she called on them in the way theyâve become accustomed to this year: by telling them she would un-mute them so they could share their thoughts with the class.

Per Gov. Tim Walz’s latest executive order, museums may reopen this week at 25 percent capacity. They won’t all reopen at once. Some won’t reopen until later this year.

Artist designs for ox sculpture sought
The Destination Downtown Coalition, in partnership with the city of Brainerd and The Crossing Arts Alliance, are bringing Babe the Blue Ox to downtown Brainerd.
Nor-Son Construction donated a Babe the Blue Ox statue that’s been at its Baxter office since 2008. After a successful fundraiser of donations from the community to secure the statue and address some much needed repairs, the art center is ready for the next step to find artists to design and paint the ox sculpture.
“We want this to be a community project that adds to downtown Brainerd s uniqueness,” the arts center stated in a news release. “The Crossing Arts Alliance will be putting together a panel to determine location/placement, finding great local artists, and jury the submissions, for who will be doing the honors of creating downtown Brainerd s latest attraction!”
