Itâs snowing. In Boston. And itâs April 16.
Bill Simpson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said temperatures around Eastern Massachusetts dropped Friday morning into the 30s at the ground level â and temperatures aloft are even colder.
âEven if the temperature at the surface is 40 degrees, at 1,000 feet up itâs probably 32 degrees,â he said. Around 9 a.m., it was 39 degrees at Logan International Airport and 32 degrees at the Blue Hill Observatory in Milton, Simpson said.
The result is large, heavy flakes of snow visible out the windows of office workers and people working from home. Simpson said fans of snow should enjoy it now because it wonât last as temperatures are expected to return to the 40s and rain will once again spread over Greater Boston later Friday.
The Trump administration’s top roadway safety agency offered a final kiss-off to America by blaming drivers for killing each other so much last year with zero acknowledgement of the administration’s own failures to implement life-saving policies that would have actually slowed them down or gotten them onto safer modes.
The National Highway Safety Administration’s (likely final) press release on Thursday alluded to a stunning 4.6-percent spike in car crash fatalities between the the first three quarters of 2019 and the same period in 2020 then placed the blame squarely upon the bad judgment of individual drivers, rather than the systemic failures of agencies like NHTSA itself.
