Imitation firearms, drugs and knives seized in Warrnambool

Police have seized multiple imitation firearms, drugs and knives after executing a warrant in Warrnambool on Monday.
Officers from Warrnambool Divisional Tasking Unit, with assistance of members from Critical Incident Response Team, Warrnambool Crime Investigation Unit and Hamilton Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a Crawley Street address about 5am.
Police seized three imitation pistols, a gel gun, an imitation sawn-off shotgun, an imitation rifle, two knives and a quantity of drugs including cannabis and prescription medication.
“Imitation firearms have the appearance of real firearms and we are pleased these items have been taken out of the community said Detective Senior Sergeant Bill Caldow.

Single Use Plastics To Be Banned
Warrnambool activists and environmentalists have celebrated an announcement by the Victorian State Government late last week to ban single use plastics, including plastic-stemmed cotton buds, by 2023.
Spokesperson Colleen Hughson from the Better Buds campaign hopes that the government s announcement sets a precedent for other states and territories.

“With so many sustainable and biodegradable alternatives available on the shelves today, there is simply no place for plastic-stemmed cotton buds.”
