MATTAPOISETT A missing Mattapoisett man was found by a Dartmouth K9, police say.
According to Dartmouth police, at approximately 4 p.m. on May 9, the Mattapoisett Police Department requested assistance from the department’s K9 Division with locating a non-verbal male with dementia.
Upon responding, Dartmouth officer Jared White and K9 partner Tyr tracked the missing male based off of an article of clothing. After narrowing the search radius down, the missing male was safely located lying on the ground behind a woodpile.
“This is a great example of departments using their collective resources in order to achieve a positive result,” Dartmouth Police Chief Brian Levesque said.

Tri-Town seniors who prefer the phone to the internet now have a way to schedule a covid-19 vaccine appointment.
On Friday, Feb. 5, Gov. Charlie Baker announced that the state had launched a call center for those age 75 and older who were unable to access the vaccine appointment website or who had trouble navigating the complex online system.
From 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, anyone in Massachusetts older than 75 can call 211 and navigate to the vaccine help line by pressing two when prompted.
Baker said there would be over 500 people working the call center and providing support.

The Board of Health announced the availability of a limited number of doses of the Moderna covid vaccine for residents on Feb. 2.
Mattapoisett residents 75 years of age and older and healthcare workers providing direct clinical care who live or work in Mattapoisett are eligible. Pre-registration is required to receive the vaccine.
To register, a completed Vaccine Insurance Form should be placed in a sealed envelope marked for the attention of Public Health Nurse Emily Field and dropped off at the Mattapoisett Police Department located at 64 County Road.
