SUVA, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) The South Pacific island nation of Tonga is closely monitoring the spread of a new, more contagious COVID-19 strain found in Britain.
According to Tonga s leading news website of Matangi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tonga s Health Ministry, Siale Akau ola, said on Tuesday that they would closely study how this new variant evolves and would adapt quickly to any new threat from it.
He said the information needed to know about the coronavirus variant including whether it causes more serious illness to the patient or it is evolving to be less virulent.

TONGA’S FUA’AMOTU AIRPORT GETS UPGRADE Cafeteria, VIP lounge among improvements
NUKUALOFA, Tonga (Matangi Tonga, Oct. 9, 2008) – A new cafeteria opened on October 9 in the newly upgraded departure lounge at Tonga s Fua amotu International Airport.
It is part of the airport upgrade undertaken this year by Tonga Airports Ltd., which has included a major clean-up of the check in and departure halls, the installation of new seating and air-conditioning and renovations of the restrooms.
The Leiola Group is leasing the cafeteria and began offering refreshments and food on Thursday for the departure of the Air New Zealand and Pacific Blue passengers.

Globe to Globe tour to visit 205 countries
NUKU‘ALOFA, Tonga (Matangi Tonga, May 7, 2015) – Shakespeare’s famous play Hamlet will be performed in Nuku’alofa on Tuesday, June 23 by a London based company, Globe to Globe Hamlet tour.
The performance will be held for two and a half-hours by eight actors at the Tonga National Cultural Centre by the small scale production which has toured the United Kingdom and United States in 2011-12.
Tourism Tonga said they will perform a raw, thrillingly elemental production of this inexhaustible play.
