Friday fishing report for Alabama

Friday fishing report for Alabama Updated Feb 19, 2021; Brutally cold weather all but shut down fishing across the northern half of the state this past week, but a forecast for much warmer days and nights ahead should finally turn the corner in what has been a long, slow winter for bass anglers. Captain Mike Gerry reports from Guntersville that the nights in the teens pushed bass out of pre-spawn mode and into deep ditches and creek beds, where his anglers caught a few dragging Carolina rigged worms on bottom, a few more on jigs and deep-diving SPRO crankbaits. Gerry says the warmer week ahead could see a very quick changeover to full pre-spawn mode in the bays and larger creeks, however, and suggests crankbaits and lipless vibrating lures like the Aruku Shad as a good way to find the fish; www.fishlakeguntersvilleguideservice.com.
