Roundup Man Arrested in Billings for Robbing Stockman Bank
The Stockman Bank on Grand Avenue in Billings was robbed last Thursday (July 29), when a white male reportedly fled with an unknown about of money. Initially, Billings Police reported they didn t have a suspect, but today made an arrest in the case.
According to a press release from Lieutenant Brandon Wooley of the Billings Police Department, members of the BPD Street Crimes Unit took 44-year old John Smith Jr. of Roundup into custody just after 3pm MDT today (Tuesday 8/3).
The arrest was made without incident in Billings, according to the report.
21-Year Old Man Arrested After Fatal Billings Crash
Billings Police reported a serious two vehicle car accident around early this morning (Friday 7/16) at the intersection of 6th Street West and Lewis Avenue, and now have made an arrest in the crash that left one person dead.
According to a press release from the Billings Police Department, a man that is believed to be in his 30 s, was killed early this morning when a pickup truck hit the minivan he was driving around 2:30am.
Investigators from the Billings Police Department believe the truck was traveling southbound on 6th Avenue West, and collided with a minivan that was eastbound on Lewis Avenue.
BPD Reports 3 Shootings in Billings in Less Than 48 Hours
Three separate shooting incidents have been reported since early Sunday morning (7/11), according to Billings Police, with one man already in custody for his role in one incident.
According to the @BillingsPD Twitter page, officers responded to shots fired at two different locations on Sunday, and one occurred early Monday morning (7/12).

Billings Police officers responded to an area next to the Ponderosa Acres apartments, in the 1300 block of Industrial Avenue, where a suspect fired numerous rounds at two vehicles in the area that were both occupied. No one in the car was injured in the shooting, but a male suspect fled the scene in a silver car, according to Billings Police.
Billings Police have made an arrest in a shooting that left one man dead, following an incident that took place in a downtown Billings alley last month (June).
According to the press release from Lieutenant Brandon Wooley of the Billings Police Department, officers arrested 18-year old Brijen Fisher without incident on Tuesday (July 6). Fisher is charged with deliberate homicide and is being held at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility, according to the report.
Fisher is charged with the homicide of a 22-year old man, identified by KTVQ as Thaddeus Maurice Merritt of Chicago, following an incident that occurred in the alley on July 26 behind Jake s West and the Burger Dive in downtown Billings.
BILLINGS - New information has been released regarding events that took place before a crime spree and fatal police stand-off at a Billings West End home last month.
The lone surviving suspect Kristy Chavez, who s being held at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility, allegedly told detectives she met the man at the center of the stand-off just hours before their deadly crime spree.
Chavez is charged with one felony count of deliberate homicide by accountability.
Court documents show Chavez ran detectives through what allegedly happened the night of Dennis Gresham s death.
Chavez says she and Michael McClure spent the night of April 23 together, doing drugs, before they arrived at Yellowstone River RV Resort and Campground.
