Machesney Park Man s Skills Keeps Rockford Teen s Wish Alive

Here s a great story of a man using his many skills to bring a Rockford charity s mission to as many people as possible. His efforts haven t gone unnoticed. Brian Lyngaas, of Machesney Park, may very well be the biggest advocate for the Nikolas Ritschel Foundation. Brian is officially the second Q98.5  Hometown Hero who has a hand in Nik s Wish. After you ve read the nomination submission you will agree. Brian was nominated by  Kelli Ritschel Boehle. I had the pleasure of working with Brian in my very first corporate job back in the late 90 s. He was amazingly organized and a fantastic technical writer. It was at a company Cubs game that he first met my son, Nik. Our lives went different directions until I reached out to see if he would consider volunteering for Nik s Wish.

A Hardworking Machesney Park Child Is Earning a PS5 On his Own

This 7-year-old is doing things some adults won t even do, putting in the work to get what they want. As a small child, I had chores and an allowance but, in most cases, I spent the money before I had to. This is the case today to a certain extent. This Machesney Park boy, he s on his way to buying a Playstation 5 with his own money. I love this story. The moment I finished reading about Jameson s quest to buy a PS5 with his own earnings, I  knew this needed to be shared with any eyes I can reach. This is quite the feat considering the starting cost of this highly coveted gaming console is $500. Even with this hefty price tag, the motivated 7-year-old is on a mission to make it happen, all thanks to his dad.

Army of volunteers work to get rid of Rockford-area roadside waste

LOVES PARK Deshon Hudson spent his Saturday morning picking up trash strewn across a vacant lot adjacent to Peak Sports Club off Perryville Road. The 10-year-old Cherry Valley Elementary School student deployed a litter grabber to collect assorted discarded items and then placed them into a bright yellow trash bag. “It’s a lot of food, lids, straws and a bunch of paper,” Hudson said. “I just came out here to help. This world is a beautiful place, and it needs to stay beautiful.” Hudson and his friends Aidyn Walston, 11, and Isaiah Taylor, 7, were among the 1,100 people who took part in the local observance of the annual Great American Cleanup, which is held each spring in conjunction with Earth Day.
