McLaren Sabre: New Hypercar Revealed for US Market Only
23rd December 2020
McLaren Special Operations has just revealed a new bespoke commission (BC-03) hypercar named the Sabre. The vehicle has been exclusively designed and approved for the US market only and will be limited to 15 units.
The new McLaren Sabre uses a heavily modified 4.0L V8 twin-turbo from the Senna developing 830hp and 800nm of torque, altogether for a top speed of 218mph. This makes it the most powerful non-hybrid McLaren V8 model. From a visual approach, the Sabre appears to have Senna and Speedtail design cues.
Each of the 15 units will be designed and specialized according to the new owner’s taste. The owners were included in the development process and allowed to do a test drive a couple of times while being monitored before giving back their feedback.

McLaren confirms that the Sabre is their most powerful non-hybrid to date. A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 824 horsepower and 590 lb-ft, outmuscling the Elva. With so much power on tap and a low curb weight thanks to its Senna underpinnings, the Sabre hits a top speed of 218 mph, making it the fastest two-seat McLaren of all time.
There s no word on pricing, but we expect the Sabre to cost much more than the Senna, which originally sold for $1.43 million when it was new. I ve been fortunate enough to have been involved with a number of very special cars and I ve never seen a manufacturer give clients the level of access that McLaren Special Operations has provided for the Sabre, commented Parris Mullins, Motorsport Director for O Gara Motorsport.
