JOLO â McDowell County Sheriffâs office conducted an arrest warrant on Dec. 18 in the Jolo area of McDowell County that resulted in a suspect being arrested and charged with drug crimes.
Clara Danielle McClanahan, 27, of Jolo, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, Possession with intent to deliver a Schedule III controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, according to a press release by Chief Deputy James âBoomerâ Muncy of the McDowell County Sheriffâs Office.
Upon executing the warrant, deputies found a quantity of drugs, firearms and money, according to the press release.

Updated: 12:36 PM EST Dec 15, 2020 Investigators in Western North Carolina are urging people not to be fooled by a reported Facebook hacker offering a lesson to anyone who uses the popular social media network.A woman in Old Fort reported that she received a Facebook message from what appeared to be one of her friends telling her about a grant for more than $100,000, deputies said Tuesday.The woman texted the number provided and spoke with someone who identified himself as Agent David Lawrence with the state s Health and Human Services Department.The woman communicated with the scammers over the following days, eventually giving them money, eBay cards, and personal information, according to deputies. An investigation showed that the friend’s Facebook Messenger had been hacked.“We want citizens to be aware of this and be aware not to send money or give out personal information unless they know for sure who they’re talking to,” said Capt.
