A CHOIR that hit the high notes when it wowed the Britain’s Got Talent judges has been given a boost by a bakery firm as it struggles for funding during the coronavirus pandemic. Only Boys Aloud, which has choirs in Wrexham, Rhyl, Caernarfon and Holyhead with a total of 80 members, has received a £1,000 grant from Wrexham s Village Bakery which was determined to help them ensure the show goes on. The money came from the company’s £5,000 Village People Fund that was set up to help local charities, community groups and sports clubs whose fundraising activities have been curtailed because of Covid-19.
Fina Badolato, For the Times Herald-Record
Up to your eyebrows in holiday shopping, baking, gift-wrapping and all sorts of last-minute details?
Before you hang that final ornament, frost that last cookie or finish tying ribbons on the gift boxes, there s one more special request that awaits.
During this season of giving, it s hoped that you will take time to remember your struggling Hudson Valley/Catskills neighbors by donating to the Times Herald-Record s People for People Fund.
The need, exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, is great. Take, for instance, the Orange County mom of four, whose husband lost his job in the COVID-19 shutdown. Although Pandemic Unemployment Assistance helped keep the family afloat for awhile, it didn t last long enough to maintain their basic needs.
Sovereign Nation Within ND Awards Every Tribal Member $1,000
Could mean a few more presents under the tree or simply less stress with your bills.
I believe the term is sharing the wealth , and that s exactly what the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation is doing with their members. $1,000 checks are being distributed to each and every member of the Three Affiliated Tribes provided they are 14 years of age or older. How would you have like to have received a thousand bucks when you were 15 years old?
So why the sudden outpouring of cash? Recipients can thank the forward thinking leaders of the MHA Nation. With all the great financial gains from the oil and gas industry on the Fort Berthold Reservation, they created an account known as The People s Fund. Meaning that tribal members not only from this generation, but more generations to come, will benefit from the financial success of their nation.
