Streets Ahead 2021: Fantastic finalists revealed for Glasgow community campaign awards

New award celebrates Glasgow s green heroes ahead of COP 26

GREAT ideas grow from little seeds – thanks to superstar growers like these young people from the east end. Helped by passionate gardener Susan Wilson, the tiny team at Onslow Drive Day Nursery have put heart and soul into creating their own allotment. It’s just one of many projects taking root across the city thanks to the efforts of community champions like Susan. We know there are many more people out there like Susan, and we want to hear all about them for our 2021 Streets Ahead Awards, supported by Glasgow City Council, City Building, People Make Glasgow Greener and City Charitable Trust.. New for this year is the People Make Glasgow Greener category, created as the city prepares for COP26, the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in November.

G3 Growers, Best Community Garden finalists in 2019 LIFE got a lot tougher for most Glaswegians when the pandemic hit - but this is a city that never quits. Looking after each other is the cornerstone of the Glasgow Times Streets Ahead campaign, which has been bringing neighbours and friends together to improve their communities since 2011. Our initiative, with the support of our generous partners Glasgow City Council, People Make Glasgow Greener, City Building and City Charitable Trust, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. In June, our annual awards night will take place – so we want to hear about the great groups and inspiring individuals helping to transform and support communities in every corner of Glasgow.

Streets Ahead 2021: Search begins for Glasgow s greenest groups and most inspiring individuals

Streets Ahead 2021 CELEBRATING community and championing those who work hard to improve the city for all are the keystones of the Glasgow Times Streets Ahead Campaign. With the support of Glasgow City Council, City Charitable Trust, People Make Glasgow Greener and City Building, our initiative has been shining a light on groups and individuals going the extra mile for Glasgow since 2011. Earlier this week we revealed Streets Ahead would be back for a terrific tenth year, with added emphasis on environmental projects as we head towards the climate change conference COP26 in Glasgow this winter. Today we are delighted to let you know our annual awards event will also return – albeit in a slightly different format from previous years given the ongoing restrictions surrounding Covid - and with an exciting new category.
