Security is tight in D.C. ahead of Inauguration Day on Wednesday after the FBI warned of threats to the city and the possibility of armed groups demonstrating.
Lest we forget January 20 2017
Let us not forget when 68 Democrats refused to go to the DJT Inauguration, calling him illegitimate. Did they incite the riot that followed? The Antifa and a few BLM, all communists and anarchists, tore up DC. No troops were sent to the Capital.
Watch:
DisruptJ20 and several Soros groups like ANSWER Coalition and The Revolutionary Communist Party are behind the rallies/riots. They showed up in busses in D.C. Michael Moore and other celebrities back DisruptJ20 though funding is kept secret. Celebrities see themselves as inspirational leaders. They promised a million protesters, but several hundred showed up in D.C.
By the time Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th president of the United States, downtown D.C. will resemble a post-apocalyptic party zone. In the aftermath of a pro-Trump mob’s unprecedented takeover of the U.S. Capitol, federal and state authorities have ordered more than 20,000 National Guard troops about four times as many as the U.S. has stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq combined to protect the seat of American democracy during the ceremonial transition period. District residents, 92 percent of which voted for Biden, would normally be inclined to celebrate. The FBI warned that more extremist groups were planning armed marches and other demonstrations nationwide leading up to the big event at noon Wednesday, January 20, but as of Monday, a coordinated effort hadn’t appeared in the District. Still, many of the public spaces D.C. is known for, particularly around the Capitol, the National Mall, and downtown, are closed off. Here’s a look at what to know, where to eat, and wh
When Capitol Hill was in chaos on Jan. 6, David Smith was there. Smith, 40, was distributing hand-warmers to homeless people nearby when the siege started. He watched in disbelief as a menacing mob stormed the U.S. Capitol. It was pretty gut wrenching to see, said Smith, who retired less than a month ago after serving in the Navy for 13 years. As a veteran, he was especially horrified, he said, to learn that his fellow vets participated in the insurrection, including Jake Angeli, also known as the QAnon Shaman, and Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed in the Capitol. That was a dagger to the heart, said Smith, who was a combat medic in Afghanistan. Just because you served in the military doesn t give you impunity to storm the Capitol building.
Will the National Mall be closed? What about First Amendment activities?
National Mall Superintendent Jeff Reinbold said the National Parks Service had worked with groups already permitted to use the area next week to find other venues for their activities. But, Reinbold said, there will be spaces for First Amendment activities on Inauguration Day, despite the Mall being closed.
“We are the premier First Amendment area in the country, in the world probably, and we wanted to see if we could do that,” Reinbold said.
Those areas will be located on Pennsylvania Avenue at the Navy Memorial and John Marshall Park. Reinbold said those wanting to exercise their First Amendment rights will have to pass through a magnetometer and will be escorted in and out of the area by U.S. Park Police.
