County vaccinations nearing 200,000

WOOD RIVER Madison County was nearing 200,000 COVID-19 vaccinations on Friday.
On Friday the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 199,871 COVID-19 vaccinations so far in the county. IDPH officials said 97,748 county residents or 36.96% of the county’s population are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
The MCHD no longer releases daily COVID-19 vaccination numbers. The Telegraph will continue to report Madison County vaccination data as released by the IDPH.
Multiple COVID-19 vaccination clinics are now available through the MCHD. Recently added MCHD vaccination clinics include the Alton Moose Lodge at 526 E. Delmar Ave., Godfrey, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, and June 1-5 at Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville.

The Lincoln Land Wind Project has been underway since the start of the year. It’s not come without hiccups along the way.
There have two crashes involving aggregate hauling trucks that were a rollover or a vehicle being put in a ditch in the imprint of the project over the last 5 months. These incidents have been confirmed by both Lincoln Land Wind and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department. No injuries have been reported.
Apex Clean Energy’s Director of Public Engagement Jaci Friedley says that safety protocols of all contractors and subcontractors have been reinforced to ensure that all vehicle drivers are operating at the highest levels of care.
County records 500th COVID death

WOOD RIVER Madison County recorded its 500th COVID-19 related death on Wednesday.
According to the Madison County Health Department, the county’s latest victim of the virus was a man in his 70s.
Late Wednesday the MCHD also reported 19 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, as well as 907 tests and six COVODI-19 patients in county hospitals, one on a ventilator. To date the county has recorded 30,278 cases and 327,724 tests.
On Thursday the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 199,018 COVID-19 vaccinations so far in the county. IDPH officials said 97,420 county residents or 36.84% of the county’s population are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
