Last week I outlined some of the extra measures Ipswich Borough Council is taking to help individuals affected by coronavirus.
We are also putting a lot of effort into helping local businesses.
Councils are responsible for distributing much of the funding the Government has made available to businesses. So far, we have paid out over £5m to nearly 700 Ipswich-based businesses.
As with help for individuals, we have also been given discretionary funding to help businesses that have fallen through the cracks of the Government’s national schemes.
ITFC On the Road in London

The second ITFC On the Road event of the season is taking place in London on Tuesday 29th January.
The venue is the Horseshoe Pub, 24 Clerkenwell Close, London, EC1R 0AG, where a fantastic welcome from Everton fan Rob and his team is guaranteed.
The evening, which starts at 7.30pm, will include a question and answer session with some of the current first-team players plus members of the off-field management team, as well as a raffle and auction in aid of the ITFC Academy.
Tickets, which cost £5 each, can be obtained from Liz Edwards by email via eaedwards78@gmail.com, by phone on 07968 876504 or in person in the FanZone before home games, Legends Bar (Sir Alf Ramsey Stand) after home games or at away games. Please reserve tickets as soon as possible to give an idea of numbers.
CORSHAM magician Chris Hiscock is hoping to impress a television show with his trickery. He s auditioned for the ITV entertainment show Britain s Got Talent and is hoping to hear soon whether he s been successful. Chris, 33, of Coulston Road, Corsham, said: I m fairly hopeful. This could really change things for me. I want to become a professional performer, doing magic shows throughout the country. Mr Hiscock is a bar and restaurant manager at Cumberwell Park Golf Club at Bradford on Avon. He runs Chris of Club Magic and regularly entertained drinkers at the Gladstone Arms in Chippenham throughout December. He also takes bookings for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special events.
