1 dead after shooting at northeast Columbus gas station

Credit: WBNS-TV Author: 10TV Web Staff Updated: 8:25 AM EDT May 5, 2021 COLUMBUS, Ohio One person is dead after a shooting in northeast Columbus on Wednesday morning, according to police. Police said the person was shot at a gas station at the intersection of East Hudson Street and Joyce Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. The person who was shot then drove to the 2700 block of Brentnell Avenue, police said. Dispatchers told 10TV the victim was taken to Grant Medical Center and was pronounced dead just after 7 a.m. Police do not have information about a possible suspect.

One dead after shooting outside Northeast Side gas station and crash

Columbus police homicide detectives are investigating the death of an East Side man following a shooting Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a Northeast Side gas station. The shooting was reported around 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a Sunoco gas station at the intersection of Joyce Avenue and Hudson Street. Police received ShotSpotter alerts from the area indicating more than two dozen gunshots were detected. The victim, identified by detectives as 54-year-old Herbert Earley, of the East Side, drove nearly two miles before crashing in the 2700 block of Brentnell Drive. Detectives said Earley and another person were sitting in the lot of the gas station when a black SUV pulled onto the lot and began firing into the vehicle before fleeing.
