VA getting an increase in vaccines to help reach more veterans and staff

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Department of Veteran Affairs currently gets 125,000 vaccine doses per week. But now the VA has confirmed an increase in doses to help reach more veterans and staff. Rising 5x to 600,000 doses.  It s really gratifying and we re always really appreciative of support from congress and Dr. Stone and his team and all of our community stakeholders, Dr. Judy Hayman, executive director of the Montana VA Health Care Systems said.  Nationally the VA gives out doses based on veteran population, age and medical conditions.  Dr. Hayman says starting next week they will be seeing roughly 800 doses a week; this is aside from the new doses. 

Ice on Yellowstone River Bridge suspected to be cause of multi-vehicle crash

LOCKWOOD, Mont. - A multi-vehicle crash on I-90 east of the Lockwood exit on the Yellowstone River Bridge had part of I-90 shut down Saturday. The Montana Department of Transportation reported full blockage of the eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic at the time of the incident. Eastbound traffic was detoured at the 27th Street exit. The westbound lane of I-90 is was shut down starting at the I-94 split near Johnson Lane Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) reports. MHP reports there were about 30 vehicles involved in the incident. Initial reports from MHP said two people jumped from the bridge to avoid being hit by a car, however, the family of the individuals tells us they were thrown off by the impacts of the crashes.
