Farm-to-table destinations

Opened in 2018, El Pretexto is an intimate “farmstay” bed and breakfast that celebrates Puerto Rico’s agricultural heritage. The farm-to-table restaurant open exclusively to hotel guests sources many of its fruits and vegetables from the property and hosts pop-up dinners with some of the country’s top chefs, including Mario Pagán and James Beard Foundation Award nominee Francis Guzmán. When you aren t tempted by made-from-scratch dishes like smoked chorizo croquettes with Hamachi and tobiko, try a little yoga in the garden gazebo or book an open-air massage with views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Guests can also hike to nearby waterfalls through a forest of palms and banana trees. Because of COVID-19 protocols, El Pretexto is only welcoming guests from Tuesday to Thursday and from Friday to Sunday to allow a 48-hour window to sanitize and air out rooms in between parties.

A boutique hotel has opened its doors in the Condado district of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Ivy Hotel is the product of a $1 million investment by Rafal Pagan, who now has a portfolio of three hotels in Condado, including the Wave Hotel and the El San Geronimo Hotel.
âDespite the challenges that global tourism is going through as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, in Puerto Rico, we confirm the strength and resilience of this economic activity with an aggressive pipeline of new investments in the sector,â said Carla Campos, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. âThe transformation of The Ivy Hotel, located at the beginning of Avenida Magdalena, is testimony to the above. We acknowledge and congratulate its investor and owner, Mr. Rafael Pagán, for his vision and for continuing to invest in Puerto Rico tourism, even in the most challenging moments. The transformation of this property is key to continue raising the standards of the hotel offering in
