COVID-19 cases continue to drop, though positivity rate ticks up

Note: Beginning this week, NM Political Report will report on the new number of cases each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The state updates COVID-19 numbers every day at .  The state Department of Health reported 884 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and 34 additional deaths related to the disease. It was the third straight day that the state reported fewer than 1,000 cases after reporting just 628 cases on Tuesday. But the sixty cases between Tuesday and Wednesday brought the total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to over 3,000. Bernalillo County had the most newly reported cases on Wednesday, with 213 cases. Doña Ana County was the only other county with 100 or more cases, with 144.

  SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials on Monday announced 628 additional COVID-19 cases and 26 deaths. As of today, there are 611 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state.  Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are: 161 new cases in Bernalillo County 17 new cases in Chaves County 4 new cases in Cibola County 1 new case in Colfax County

628 new COVID-19 cases, 26 additional deaths as test numbers drop

DOH has typically reported fewer cases on Monday compared to other days of the week, and the number of tests reported since Sunday was much lower than most days. Bernalillo County had the most newly reported cases on Monday, with 161 cases.  On Monday, the department reported 611 individuals were hospitalized for COVID-19, a decrease of one person since Sunday. This could include those from other states who are hospitalized in New Mexico, but would not include New Mexicans who are hospitalized out of state. DOH provided some information on each of the 26 newly reported deaths.

  SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials on Sunday announced 751 additional COVID-19 cases and 22 deaths. As of today, there are 612 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state. Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are: 173 new cases in Bernalillo County 2 new cases in Catron County 39 new cases in Chaves County 8 new cases in Cibola County
