Two-car accident on U.S. 81

A driver heading northbound on Highway 81 just north of Pleasant Hill Road fell asleep at the wheel around 10:46 p.m. Sunday night and rolled his car.
The black 1998 GMC pickup truck drifted onto the right shoulder, came back on the highway, and came to rest on the roadway s northbound side.
Another car, a white 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, had to swerve off the median, broke its front bumper, and got two flat tires on the passenger s side. The driver, 23-year-old male Tamyon Schafer of Topeka, sustained no injuries.
19-year-old Timothy Sigwing of Cheney was driving the GMC and suffered injuries to his head and legs. He was transported by the Salina EMS to SRHC.

Two nearby wrecks forced authorities to close a roadway Monday in Osceola County.
A four-vehicle crash was reported near the intersection of Eagle Lake Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road, which was closed northbound in the area.
The crash involved two SUVs, a minivan and a sedan, officials said.
One victim was taken to a hospital, according to authorities.
Meanwhile, a separate crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle occurred a short time later, one intersection north of the aforementioned wreck.
One northbound lane of Pleasant Hill Road was closed at Granada Boulevard, officials said.
