THE FATE of a popular dental campus, which served about 1,000 patients has been sealed - with the clinic now permanently closed after 15 years. The Southend Academic Dental Clinic, which is hosted by the University of Essex in Southend, saw it s lease expire earlier this year - with the future of the clinic left up in the air. Although there was no option to renew, bosses at the University of Essex were able to temporarily extend this until July and alternatives were being explored for after that date. But the clinic has now closed it s doors for good, with the university team refurbishing the space for its School of Health and Social Care to become a large clinical skills suite.
