Flin Flon COVID-19 vaccine clinic moves to walk-ins, no appointments needed

In Flin Flon, the clinic is located at the Flin Flon Community Hall, while the clinic in The Pas clinic is located at the Roy H. Johnston Arena. Both clinics offer doses of Moderna vaccine - as of May 7, the clinics are offering first dose appointments only. The Flin Flon clinic is open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. May 13, 14, 20 and 21, while the clinic in The Pas will be open May 13, 14, 20 and 21 with the same hours.  As of May 7, eligibility requirements allow all people age 18 and over who live or work in the Northern Health Region (NHR) to receive their first shot. This includes Saskatchewan residents who work in northern Manitoba. This includes people who are pregnant, Community Living disABILITY Services clients, all health care workers, firefighters and police officers.

All appointments must be booked in advance by calling the provincial vaccination hotline at 1-844-626-8222 (1-844-MAN-VACC). All people attending the clinics for doses must bring consent forms to appointments.  As of April 15, no announcement of further pop-up clinics in Flin Flon or The Pas has been made by the provincial government. In Flin Flon, pop-up clinics have taken place intermittently over the past month, with one set to take place April 16. Three clinics this week were previously announced by the province, but later cancelled - the provincial government cited delays in receiving shipments of the Moderna vaccine as the reason for the change.

Three Flin Flon vaccine clinics postponed due to Moderna shipping delays: province

The change is part of a series of clinic reschedulings announced recently by the provincial government, owing to what the province has described as “delays in two deliveries of Moderna vaccine”. According to a provincial announcement, two shipments of Moderna vaccines – one of 28,300 doses expected to arrive March 22 and another 28,400 doses expected to arrive earlier this week – were delayed, with the first shipment arriving April 3 and the second shipment yet to arrive as of April 5. In total, 23 pop-up clinics in 17 different communities have been postponed, most of which are in rural or northern communities. People who have booked vaccination appointments in Flin Flon April 13-15 will be contacted about their appointments, according to the province, with the option to book another appointment at a future pop-up clinic or at a supersite.
