COVID-19 vaccine: Kentucky residents 16 and up now eligible for vaccine

Kentucky has opened up vaccinations for everyone ages 16 and older starting Monday. “Starting on Monday, if you’re 16 and up, you qualify to get this vaccine. No other limitations out there,” Gov. Andy Beshear said last week. Only the Pfizer vaccine has been approved by the FDA for people ages 16-18 and can be administered to everyone over age 16, Beshear noted. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available to anyone age 18 and older. “This is a good day. This news means that we will beat the president’s goal by a month to have COVID-19 vaccinations opened up to everyone,” Beshear said Wednesday. “We are seeing in a number of states an increase in cases and hospitalizations, and it’s happening among younger people. We want to get ahead of the more aggressive COVID-19 variants and make sure that we fill every available appointment. Make a plan to get your shot of hope.”
