LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) In a great New Year s Day update, a 32-year-old woman kidnapped from Liberty County Tuesday was found safe in Illinois around 2 a.m.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff s Office, the suspect in the kidnapping, 38-year-old Abel Fajardo, was arrested, and Erika Rios Valdez was found with him, safe and unharmed.
No information was available about exactly where the two were located in Illinois, but deputies expect more information to be released later today.
Fajardo is currently in jail in Illinois, according to deputies.
According to LCSO, Fajardo kidnapped Valdez at gunpoint around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Original Story: Erika Rios Valdez, 32, is missing from Cleveland, Texas. She was last seen at her house on CR3404 near the Bella Vista Subdivision in Plum Grove around 9:30 p.m., when a man with a gun forced her into a car on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
According to the Liberty County Police Department, Erika was unhooking a food truck when a man named Abel Fajardo, 38, came up with a gun and forced her into his truck. “Her brother tried to stop him from abducting Erika by chasing after them in his car but he was unable to stop the suspect from fleeing the area,” said Capt. Ken DeFoor, told Blue Bonnet News.
