IT’S almost 27 years into democracy, but women still don’t have it easy.
Over the years, they’ve experienced inequality and violence, and the high-paying jobs and boardrooms are still mostly dominated by men.
Despite these challenges, women work hard to provide for their families. Some are street vendors, recyclers, helpers, office cleaners or farm workers who earn below the minimum wage.
But they are not giving up.
Today is International Women’s Day and UN Women announced the theme is “Women in leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a Covid-19 World”.

“The pyjamas show everything including boobs and punani.
“They don’t even wear underwear,” said scholar transport driver Lindo Mkhize (33) from Protea Glen, Soweto.
“This makes me lose focus. Imagine collecting 10 kids and half of the mothers come with revealing clothes. Your day is already heading for disaster,” he said.
“This is work and we respect it but next thing we are greeted by breasts at the gate.
Four more vaccine sites for Gauteng, 2 928 active cases in province

JOHANNESBURG Gauteng Health MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi has expressed satisfaction at the state of the newly-opened additional coronavirus vaccination sites in the province.
The Chris Hani Baragwanath and Steve Biko Academic hospitals were the initial two vaccination sites when the first batch of Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses arrived.
As of Wednesday, the province has added four new sites: the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital, the Netcare Milpark Private Hospital and the Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital.

Johannesburg - Siphelele Magudulele from Protea North, Soweto this week became a victim of an alleged kidnapping ring that has residents in and around Joburgâs southern suburbs living in fear for the safety of their children.
The 18-year-old was allegedly accosted by two males at around 3pm on Tuesday, said to be in their late 20s or early 30s.
While all this was happening, the third man sat in the driverâs seat.
The one pointing a gun ordered him to get into a white Toyota Tazz.
