The ongoing political, human rights and socio-economic developments in Venezuela have led over million Venezuelans refugees and migrants to move into Latin American and the Caribbean countries. It is estimated that Guyana, a small developing nation, has welcomed thus far over 23000 refugees and migrants from Venezuela. The increasing number of refugees and migrants from Venezuela has put additional strain in already limited resources and impacted host communities, especially vulnerable local communities in the country’s interior where service provision is already limited. The deteriorating situation in Venezuela has also led to significant numbers of Guyanese and Guyanese descendants to return to Guyana from Venezuela. Baghdad, Iraq (ILO News) The International Labour Organization in Iraq and partners launched a nation-wide campaign to tackle the worst forms of child labour in the country. The campaign will target 10,000 children, their families and guardians, teachers, employers, and the media through a series of activities which aim to raise awareness on the increasing dangers of child labour, mobilise efforts to reach the heart of communities most effected by the rise of child labour in the country; and encourage activities to amplify the voices of those effected by the problem.

Operational Update & COVID-19 Response
In March, WFP delivered cash and food assistance to 188,921 IDPs and 69,085 refugees, and 1,194 returnees and people from vulnerable communities through resilience building initiatives.
The COVID-19 situation continues to worsen with reported cases and fatalities on the rise. Curfews and movement restrictions as well as school re-closures across Iraq remain in place. WFP continues assistance to vulnerable households in camps. It was noted that IDPs who had moved back to Sinjar continued to return to camps in Duhok governorate. In the last week of March, 273 people arrived in Duhok IDP camps. Similar movements were observed in Jeddah-5 camp in Ninewa governorate. Bangladesh has been under lockdown since 6am April 5, 2021. This is the first time the nation is under lockdown to curb the spiralling spike in Covid-19 cases. While last year the nation took a similar and perhaps more effective measure to flatten the curve the government called it a general holiday. Although this time around the country is officially under a lockdown, given the mounting statistics, its effectiveness has been limited at best.
Covid cases are increasing by the day, the healthcare system is overloaded with patients seeking medical support, and there are people who are dying due to lack of treatment. There is an acute shortage of medical facility for Covid patients, including ICU facilities and medical care staff. People are practically dying in cars and ambulances as their loved ones take them from one hospital to another in search of treatment.
