A former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana and his supporters yesterday returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing party members at a reception to mark his formal return to the PDP in Bida, Niger State, Gana said the country is nose-diving and needed urgent rescue.
Gana, then member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP had in March, 2018, dumped the PDP and pitched tent with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Speaking during his defection yesterday, the former minister said there was no government in his home state of Niger and Nigeria.
He said, “Today, is not a day for lecture, it is not a day for campaigns, we just want to rejoice that we are back together solidly; and we are going to work together solidly, we are going to work together effectively, that we are going to campaign powerfully.”

Niger State Youths, under the auspices of Amalgamated Youth Societies (AYS) have lambasted former Information Minister, Professor Jerry Gana for being part of the woos currently confronting Niger State and Nigeria in general.
In a press statement signed by its President, Ndako Mohammed and made available to newsmen in Minna, the youths claimed that for several years that Professor Gana was in power, there was nothing he can show as his contribution to the socio-economic and physical development of Niger State.
Apparently reacting to comment made by Professor Gana when he reunited with the PDP where he stated, “there is no governance in Niger state, there is no governance in Nigeria”, the Youth group noted that Prof. Gana was part of the PDP for 16 years during which the economy of the country was bastardised and corruption was the order of the day.
The four others also readmitted on Saturday at the zonal congress of the PDP which held in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, include, Barrister Humphrey Abah, Esther Audu, Adakole Ijogi and Bagudu Hillson.
The ex-minister in his speech on behalf of the others readmitted, hailed the leaders of the party for readmitting them back into the PDP fold.
“We are happy to be back,” he said.
Gana said Nigerians rely on the PDP to rescue the country from the doom it is headed for.
“Nigerians expect you to take over the governance of this country for good governance to ensure the peace and security of this country. I, therefore, urge the PDP to mobilise together and be united to rescue Nigeria and restore good governance, ensure security of lives and property and instill confidence in the minds of all Nigerians,” he added.
