Community colleges, CIRAS to lead statewide manufacturing technology consortium BY BUSINESS RECORD STAFF Thursday, April 29, 2021 2:47 PM Iowa’s community colleges and Iowa State University’s Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) today announced a new consortium to support the manufacturing sector in adapting to “Industry 4.0” the global move toward digitalization and automation. The new consortium includes key state associations and agencies that have agreed to partner for the best interest of manufacturing businesses, the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees and CIRAS said in a news release. GREAT BEND TRIBUNE Cooper attends Heartland Economic Development Course Sue Cooper, Barton County Grant Coordinator Sue Cooper, Barton County Grant Coordinator, was one of 170 professionals to attend the Heartland Economic Development Course (HEDC) in April. Heartland attendees receive fundamental economic development training on topics ranging from quality of life, business and development funding, site selection, business retention and expansion, and workforce development.   This training opportunity was made possible through a donation from Midwest Energy Inc. “Midwest understands the importance of economic development to the region’s vitality, specifically when it comes to site selection and utility availability,” Cooper stated. “Collaboration is critical to sustainability and fosters public-private partnerships, and we are grateful for their continual investment in our area.”

After a life in Eastern Iowa  playing both volleyball and basketball for Loras College in Dubuque  she relocated to almost the exact opposite side of the state for this new adventure. Three decades later, Cherie was married, a mother of two, a head coach and a rock on the Woodbury Central staff, beloved by pupils and coworkers alike. She was one of my best friends for 30 years,” said Carla Hubert, an English teacher. “I will miss her patience, advice and wicked sense of humor. She was a once-in-a-lifetime friend and colleague.”
