Boy held at gunpoint in traumatic south London burglary

Police described the incident as an incredibly traumatic experience . A teenage boy was one of a number of people held at gunpoint during an incredibly traumatic armed robbery in Lambeth, south London, recently. The burglary took place at an estate along Lansdowne Way in Lambeth on the evening of Sunday April 18. At around 5.30pm, a 17-year-old boy answered a knock on the door to a stranger who, along with two other men, forcibly entered his home without permission. All were armed with weapons including a firearm and knife. The young boy was held at the address for around three hours alongside four other occupants, all threatened at gunpoint, a police statement described.

The apple, pear, and cherry trees, in Priory Park, were planted last autumn as part of Southend Council’s campaign to plant 1,000 trees over three years. Council bosses have insisted the 14 damaged trees will be replaced at the earliest possible stage and a probe has been launched into the incident. Ervin Ritok, who helped plant the fruit trees, believes children may have caused the damage on Sunday. The 36-year-old, from Southend, said: “I was devastated and completely heartbroken. “Half of the trees had been snapped in half, the others were damaged or torn out. It’s such a shame.

Nicky Stone will take on the Royal Parks Half Marathon today as she bids to raise funds for Rayleigh-based charity Aoife’s Bubbles. The charity was set up after Aoife Flanagan-Gibbs, who had been repeatedly misdiagnosed with constipation, heartbreakingly lost her battle with a rare form of germ cell cancer in 2019. Having overcome a rare form of cancer herself, Nicky will take on the 13.1-mile challenge kitted out as Aoife’s favourite Disney character.
